Whilst performing flight KQ-12 from Nairobi to Paris Charles de Gaulle, the aircraft was climbing through FL330 approx. 130nm north of Nairobi near to Mount Kenya when the crew started a descent to FL180 due to cabin pressure issues. Mount Kenya is 17,300 ft hence the decent to FL180 and not FL100. This caused the O2 masks to be deployed, once the aircraft had turned around and confirmed it was not near to approaching Mount Kenya, they further descended to FL150 and then FL100. Aircraft landed safely at Nairobi 35 minutes after leaving FL330. Aircraft was grounded for five day. 5Y-KZC performed the trip with a total delay of 13 hours.
